About our Founder

I am Olivia Rufo. Currently, I am an 11th grade high school student based in Los Angeles. I am a proud first-generation Americanas both of my parents immigrated to the United States as adolescents. Their struggles in gaining U.S. citizenship and navigating the complex immigration system deeply inspired me to start Generation One. I am dedicated to educating others about the numerous challenges that immigrants and first-generation Americans face. These challenges include human rights violations and the significant barriers within the legal system that often do not favor immigrants. In today’s political and social climate, immigration remains a critical issue that demands attention and action. It is essential to advocate for those who do not have a voice and to provide support for those who are struggling. Through Generation One, I seek to raise awareness about these issues, empower individuals to overcome obstacles, and create a lasting, positive impact for my community. My goal is to foster understanding, promote social justice, and ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to thrive.
